The one who is
very attached to the cave of the body, that one finds detachment very difficult.
Those who constantly crave for pleasure are hard to liberate and certainly
cannot be liberated by others, only by themselves. Sometimes it is only death
that brings a realization of endings, and then the sensual person, deeply
immersed in the body, will shout: "What will happen to me after
death?" The way toward liberation is to train yourself to live in the
present without any wanting to become anything. Give up becoming this or that,
live without cravings, and experience this present moment with full attention.
Then you will not cringe at death nor seek for repeated birth. ~ The Buddha ~
[Sutta Nipata]
How should a MONK
practice contentment...?
Lord Buddha : This is how a MONK should practice contentment..
He takes food only to ease his hunger.
When he travels takes only the robe with him.
He lives in seclusion like, shade of a tree, near a water fall, in a cave, at a grave yard, etc..
Should meditate whenever he can..

the Budda,
" I want happiness"
The Budda replied,
First remove 'I' that's EGO,
Then remove ' want ' that's DESIRE,
And now all you're left with is HAPPINESS.

If somebody
meditates with a wholesome attitude, with right attention and mindfulness, then
whether he has expectations or not he will gain insight. It's like filling
a bowl with oil seeds
and pressing them or milking a cow by pulling the udder or filling a jar with cream and churning it. It's the right method. ~ The Buddha ~ [Majjhima Nikaya]
